I would like to call my place Madras as it was called before..... Chennai is a new name and it is something which was renamed presently. So lets talk about it
Lovely city
With small calm surrounding
We had a huge house
In the center of place
Nice garden
With all flower blossoms
We had to leave it
for it was too big
Four of us in a place like that
Was the best day in my life
Now we still have the place
Its become an apartment
Calm place
Now had become a busy street
We used to run from left to right
Up and down
Without a fear of vehicals
Now we have to watch our step
to go across the road.
For Poetry Jam............
Love and Be Loved...... God has created us in a purpose to live a beautiful life. Lets live with happiness and Care.....
You have shown well the contrast between your former home and present home. You speak with nostalgia about your first home with its garden filled with flowers. Indeed in a busy city the traffic might make streets difficult to cross AND noisy.
ReplyDelete(Hope you will be able to comment on others' poetry this week...we all LOVE comments too.)
I like the nostalgic touch and even today we sometimes refer to Chennai as Madras....an old habit..nicely done :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a common occurance to down-size these days... as cliche as it may sound, home is where the heart is.
ReplyDeletedef have to watch, the world has become a crowded place and you will get run over by those consumed with getting where they are going...we moved from a big house as well years ago...
ReplyDeleteYour old house sounded beautiful with its lovely tropical garden.
ReplyDeleteQuite a contrast between the old and the new. Hope you get used to the new and be careful crossing the street!
ReplyDeleteMoving and getting used to new places is probably not as hard as seeing the places we used to live change with the times.
ReplyDeleteAh change is something that happens everywhere but at least we have the memories. I am guessing that Madras is the place the plaid fabric is named after--and that memory probably reflects my age! Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed this look at where you live.
ReplyDeleteYou capture well how times and situations change - but sounds like you adapted well.
ReplyDeleteI felt very sad reading your poem ... change no matter how old, how often is incredibly hard. I have been there.
ReplyDeleteThere is great contrast here and a feeling of lost days. Nicely done and emotional.
ReplyDeleteEffective contrast between the wistful past and the noisy and busy present. Your former house sounds beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe name Madras evokes spices and fabrics to me.
The first place does sound beautiful for sure. I do agree with Laurie too. Great contrast here...felt piece.
ReplyDeleteThe change from your first home to your new home is dramatic ... and the change for good and bad, the pluses and the drawbacks ... it's universal!
ReplyDeleteAh... The passage of time with its casualties. You capture well the nostalgia and wistfulness for a former life, time and place.
